Hill trained and increased a mile!

Today I completed 11 miles. It was challenging in two ways. I increased a mile and hill trained for the first time. Yes, we were challenged today to start our run on a hill. This is the first time I ran uphill since I missed the Monday evening hill training sessions for two weeks now.
We started our run from the park, ran till First ave and ran up the hill on Via Entrada road and back down. It was so good to run today with such thick cloud cover. I had to wear no suncreen and no sunglasses. Because of all the monsoons, there was some flowing water in the river course. Yes, I finally saw Rillito river!
Today I ran with so much ease because I ran every day last week. I also had company for the most part of the run. Can't complain too much about the hill since I was talking while still sticking to my interval times between walk and run. I run for 2 mins and walk for 1:15mins for the most part.
I didn't feel it much till I finished 10 miles. I didn't want to diappoint you by not increasing my mileage. So, I attempted to run 12 miles today. At the 11 mile turnaround point, I knew that I can't make it. I walked back the last half mile because my feet were aching.
I am fine now, thanks to Epsom salt!

Hats off to Lora and her family
Lora and I briefly trained together in the path. I learnt from her that her daughter Marisa, aged 16 just died 3 months back from Leukemia. It was amazing to see Lora back on the track while still trying to cope with her loss.Along with her, five of her family members are training to do the marathon this season. They are doing this because Marisa wanted to do it after she gets well. She underwent Chemo to get cured from Leukemia. Her heart got affected by the treatment and Leukemia also came back. It was so sad to hear the story. At the same time, it was so inspiring to see Lora on the track. I think their family is doing the right thing by taking up this challenge at this time of their life. I hope that this will let them come out of this sad time together as a family.
